Managing Deadlines
→Write all deadlines in one place (e.g planner, diary, Google Calendar)
→Set your personal deadline 3-5 days before the real one. Do NOT leave things for the last minute so that you can get immediate feedback.
→Do not try to multi-task more than two big IB works every day, this affects quality
Studying for Tests
→Don’t just reread notes, it wastes time. Instead, use active recall: practice questions, explaining aloud, flashcards.
→Study in 30-45 minute periods, then take a short break
→Focus more on past paper questions than memorizing theories/information
Internal Assessments
→Start early, even if you aren’t completely ready
→Always assess your IA with the criteria, not just teacher feedback.
→Save every version of your work, you may reuse parts later.
Extended Essay
→Choose a topic that you wouldn’t hate working on for months
→Narrow down and specify your question as much as possible
→Work on it a little every week instead of doing everything in the last minute
→Write a plan before researching too much, ideas and structure become clearer after planning.
Remember that in IB →Being consistent is much more useful than being “smart.” Comparing yourself to others will only slow you down or demotivate you.
